Located 290km west of Sydney, Gulgong has experienced a colourful history since the major gold rush of the early 1870's when the population reached over 20,000.
 

Whilst Gulgong has retained much of its early heritage, the town has evolved from a mining centre to a flourishing rural community.

Gulgong's eclectic mix of shops, cafes, hotels and restaurants cater to all tastes and budgets, and a diversity of accommodation is available, ranging from hotels to luxurious guest houses.

Attractions include the district's world class wineries, Gulgong Pioneer's Museum, Henry Lawson Centre; the historic Prince of Wales Opera House, and the region's beautiful national parks and recreational areas.
