For the last fifteen years or so I have developed a strong interest in porcelain, a demanding material which modern technology has gone some way to de-mystifying. It is however a material demanding sensitivity and respect.
The qualities that presently interest me are in particular the play of light and shadow which I attempt to utilise in my white, translucent works. Most of my work consists of wheel thrown and hand carved bowls most of which are glazed only on the inside.
In conjunction with this I am also continuing and developing my interest in traditional high temperature glazes.
